Well today was interesting.

The girl I adore was at prom… NOT expected. She’s a sophomore so it caught me off guard. The whole night was a constant struggle to try to dance with her or talk to her or somehow get my foot in the door, followed by my friends scolding me to. A wonderful female dancer friend of mine made it clear to me her date was just a friend… you’d think that clear walls for me!… but nah. I’m too shy. My friend mentioned that too! She mentioned that I’ going to need to get over the shyness factor in order to get her attention. So, I’m going to try to man up and start being bold. My great friend on the male dance team(T^2) also encouraged me to go talk to her. He usually jokes around and we pretend we hate each other but tonight he was a great friend and helped to build my self-confidence into talking to her.

Along with more friends encouraging me, I finally mustered up the strength to ask her after a song ended!!!!… but she said no, I’m with this guy. Sorry. I hate being overdramatic and mushy about stuff, but my heart broke. Of course she was going to say no doofus! that’s why you never should’ve asked her!

After about two songs of depressed sad lonely Tavi, That one song “It’s gettin’ hot in here” came on. Myyyy jammm. I turned around and a very veryverybeautiful model friend of mine wanted to dance.

We got down.

It was theexactthing i needed. Seriously, our dance was HOT. I was reallyproud of myself for not reverting to my 12 year old persona. After that i started thinking. Maybe it wasn’t a terrible thing that i got rejected. I may have not been able to dance with the girl whom I have literally liked fora year now, but I did earn something.

Courage.

I talked to her, I asked her, she said no, I smiled, said okay, and walked away.

12 year old Tavi couldn’t have done that.

Thank you, Wonderful female dancer friend. I’ll keep working on knocking down those walls.
